ChatGPT Ads in Poland: Availability, How It Works and How It Compares with Google Ads

author: Jacek Sultan Performance marketing 10 minute read

ChatGPT Ads is now available to businesses in Poland. We examine the rollout timeline, how campaigns work, the differences from Google Ads, and when to use Ads Manager or the API.

People looking for a product can type a few words into Google or tell ChatGPT what they need. For businesses, these are two different opportunities to reach a potential customer. ChatGPT Ads introduces paid advertising into the second experience, but it does not turn every conversation into a sales opportunity.

What do we know about availability in Poland? How do you prepare a campaign? And is the API really easier to use than the dashboard at this stage? We examine official OpenAI and Google documentation, separating confirmed capabilities from practical assessments and promises about performance.

Information verified on October 14, 2026. This article is based on public documentation, rather than our own comparative campaign test.

ChatGPT Ads in Poland: Key Facts

  • Poland currently has self-service access to Ads Manager. Eligibility depends in part on the country where the legal entity advertising and receiving invoices is based. Source: Ads Manager availability.
  • On August 31, 2026, OpenAI confirmed self-service access across 31 European markets. This is the European availability announcement date, rather than a separately documented date of the first ad served in Poland. Source: ChatGPT Ads expands across Europe.
  • Ads are separate from ChatGPT’s answers. Paying for a campaign does not buy a recommendation from the model. Source: Ads in ChatGPT.
  • Both Ads Manager and the API are available. Documentation confirms both approaches, but does not establish that the API is easier for everyone. Ads Manager, API.

When Did ChatGPT Ads Become Available in Poland?

It helps to distinguish three things: an announcement about entering a market, advertiser access to campaign tools, and an ad appearing for an individual user.

OpenAI began testing ads in the United States on February 9, 2026. On August 18, it announced an expansion to 31 European countries the following week. An update on August 31, 2026 confirmed self-service access across those markets. Start of ad testing, European announcement.

At the time of verification, Poland is listed as a country with self-service access. However, the materials we reviewed did not contain a separate, unambiguous announcement identifying the first day ads were served in Poland. We therefore do not equate the European announcement date with the moment every Polish user could see an ad. Source: Country availability list.

For a business, the practical question is whether it can begin setting up a campaign. Creating an account does not automatically mean ads will run: account verification, billing and ad approval also need to be completed. Source: Launching your first campaign.

How Does Advertising in ChatGPT Work?

ChatGPT Ads is OpenAI’s advertising platform. Names such as “GPT Ads” or “gptads” are sometimes used informally, but this article uses the product’s proper name.

A standard ad appears below a ChatGPT response. It includes the advertiser’s name, a headline, description, image and link to a landing page. The system considers signals such as the topic and intent of the conversation, the ad content and the landing page. Source: ChatGPT Ads basics.

Advertisers can provide context hints: descriptions of situations in which their offer may be relevant. These are not exact-match keywords and do not guarantee delivery in a particular conversation. Source: Ad selection and delivery.

As a hypothetical example, a backpack retailer could describe the needs of people planning a short trip with carry-on luggage. This helps explain the product’s use case. It does not mean the retailer can select a specific private conversation or identify the person taking part.

Ads may appear for users on Free and Go plans. The paid plans listed by OpenAI, including Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu, remain ad-free. Advertisers do not receive access to private conversations. OpenAI also states that personalized ads are not initially available in the European Economic Area or Switzerland, so businesses should not assume that every capability available elsewhere works identically in Poland. ChatGPT Ads vs Google Ads: What Is the Difference?

The most useful starting point is to compare ChatGPT Ads with Google Search campaigns, which place ads in search results. Google Ads as a whole covers much more, including product advertising, video and campaigns spanning multiple channels. Source: Google Ads campaign types.

Area Google Ads: Search Campaigns ChatGPT Ads
Where users encounter the ad Google search results Below a ChatGPT response
Starting point The user’s search query and campaign settings Conversation context and information about the ad and offer
Describing customer needs Keywords and match types in standard ad groups Context hints that help match the ad to relevant situations
Preparing the message Responding to what the user is searching for Presenting an offer relevant to the situation the user describes
Campaign management Google Ads dashboard and Google Ads API Ads Manager Beta and Advertiser API

The Google comparison is based on its Search campaign setup guide. The ChatGPT comparison draws on its advertising overview and API documentation. Google also provides its own API for campaign management and reporting. The row about preparing the message is a practical interpretation of these mechanisms, rather than a guarantee of better performance.

A Google user might search for “40 × 30 × 20 cabin backpack.” In ChatGPT, they might describe their trip, baggage restrictions and the need to carry a laptop. This illustrates a difference in context. It does not prove that either channel reaches customers who are more ready to buy.

It would also be inaccurate to say Google advertising relies entirely on keywords. Shopping ads use product data, while Performance Max combines multiple Google advertising channels and automates optimization. Shopping ads, Performance Max.

For businesses, this means preparing a separate test. Copying a Search campaign without considering conversational context may miss the new channel’s opportunities. At the same time, an effective Google Ads campaign does not lose its value simply because another platform has appeared.

Ads Manager or the API: Which Is Easier Today?

There is no basis for claiming, without qualification, that the API is currently easier than Ads Manager. Official materials describe both approaches, but do not provide a comparative usability study.

What Can You Do in Ads Manager?

The dashboard supports guided campaign creation, bulk configuration uploads, editing and performance analysis. It provides tables, charts and CSV exports. It is a working route to launching and managing campaigns, rather than just a reporting screen. Source: Ads Manager workflows.

For someone setting up their first campaign, it may be the simplest choice: there is no need to build an integration or maintain scripts. This is a practical assessment that depends on the user’s experience.

What Does the API Enable?

The Advertiser API enables programmatic creation of campaigns, ad groups and ads. An API key can be issued through the settings in an Ads Manager account. Source: Getting started with the Ads API.

Reporting capabilities allow performance data to be retrieved at account, campaign, ad-group and ad level. The documentation also covers conversion metrics and attributed sales. Source: API reporting.

This can help a team that needs to retrieve reports regularly, combine them with its own data or create many similar campaign configurations. Repeated manual tasks can become a defined process. This is our inference from the documented capabilities, rather than the result of a speed comparison between the two tools.

However, the API requires technical implementation and control over changes. For a single straightforward campaign, the cost of building automation may outweigh the time it saves.

It is also worth distinguishing the Advertiser API from the Conversions API. The former is used for campaign management and reporting; the latter sends events used in measurement. OpenAI documents them as separate areas. Campaign management, Measurement developments.

A fair conclusion is that the API may be more convenient for automating configuration and analysis when a team has technical support. Ads Manager remains an available route for managing campaigns directly.

What Can You Measure, and How Much Does a Campaign Cost?

ChatGPT Ads offers objectives focused on views, clicks and conversions. CPM means billing per thousand impressions, while CPC means billing per valid click. Optimizing for conversions does not automatically mean paying for each order: the documentation describes conversion-optimized campaigns billed for clicks or impressions. Source: Campaign objectives and billing.

The same documentation currently lists a minimum daily budget of PLN 65 for accounts billed in Polish złoty. This is a campaign-setting minimum, rather than an expected customer acquisition cost or a recommended budget for every business. A daily budget is an average rather than a fixed cap for each day. OpenAI describes spending of up to twice the selected daily amount on an individual day, with a weekly limit of seven times that amount when the budget remains unchanged. A campaign-total budget is also available to control spending across the campaign’s duration. Source: Budgets and minimum campaign spend.

Performance analysis can include impressions, clicks, spend and configured conversions. The API also documents cost per action and return on ad spend based on attributed purchase value. A metric that cannot be calculated is not the same as a result of zero. Source: Reporting definitions.

Our recommendation when comparing channels is to use the same definition of a valuable outcome. For an online shop, that might be a paid order. For a service business, it might be an enquiry meeting agreed qualification criteria. Comparing the cost of any form submission with the cost of an actual customer tells you little about profitability.

Why Does It Matter That ChatGPT Ads Is Still at an Early Stage?

OpenAI describes ChatGPT Ads as a beta platform in the early stages of scaling. It highlights changes to delivery, formats and tools, along with potential fluctuations in spending and ad delivery. It does not yet provide universal performance benchmarks across industries. Source: The platform’s current stage.

Development is already underway. On September 16, 2026, OpenAI announced new AI tools in Ads Manager, campaign management through a ChatGPT plugin, and integrations with HubSpot and Shopify. In that announcement, Sponsored Agents were described as a test with selected advertisers in the United States, rather than a format generally available in Poland. Source: September product updates.

This is a reason to check current capabilities before planning a campaign. The platform’s age alone does not establish that ads will be cheaper, competition will be limited or returns will be higher than with Google Ads.

How Should You Approach Your First ChatGPT Ads Test?

The following steps are our recommendations for organizing a test. They are not platform requirements or promises about performance.

  1. Choose one offer and a specific goal. A campaign for one service is easier to evaluate than a broad message covering everything your business does.
  2. Describe the customer’s situation. Write down the problem they want to solve, the options they are comparing and their constraints. Use this to prepare the ad and context hints.
  3. Check the page after the click. Customers should find the offer advertised, understand its terms and easily take the next step.
  4. Set up measurement before evaluating performance. Decide where you will verify orders or enquiry quality and how you will identify campaign traffic.
  5. Agree on acceptable spending and decision criteria. Define what would justify continuing the test, making changes or stopping it. Do not increase the budget solely because clicks are appearing.
  6. Choose tools that fit the scale of the work. Ads Manager may be enough initially. Consider the API when repeated configuration or reporting becomes a meaningful workload.

ChatGPT Ads gives businesses another opportunity to reach potential customers. Its value is best assessed using your own offer, data and the quality of the customers acquired. If you want to prepare a test, explore DOCK’s ChatGPT Ads campaign services.
